Mathhew Goldfine

Matthew Goldfine has over 25 years of experience in the construction industry as a general contractor, designing, building and managing a wide range of projects in the New York, Tri-state area. Clients rely on his unique expertise in the renovation and restoration of antique buildings for projects ranging from the complete makeover of private brownstones in Manhattan and Brooklyn to the high profile renovation of the U.S. Court of Appeals of the Second Circuit and the design and construction of the Federal Trade Commission offices at One Bowling Green, NYC.

Mr. Goldfine has also been involved in a number of state of the art projects requiring an extremely high level of precision and craftsmanship. Examples include the construction and renovation of the Donghia Interior Design Resource Center at Parsons School of Design, NYC and the high tech Belfer Lighting facility in Farmingdale, NJ.

In addition, Mr. Goldfine has completed numerous projects throughout the New York Tri-state area in both the public and private sectors, on public bid, municipal, state and federal projects as well as commercial and residential projects. A partial list can be found below.


Adam Goldfine

Adam Goldfine comes to Excel Builders from a diverse business background with an emphasis on operations, marketing and communications. As Chief Operating Officer of Misty Mate, a manufacturer of portable misting products, Mr. Goldfine was instrumental in developing international markets and oversaw a complete product line redevelopment resulting in substantial expansion into the domestic big box retail market.

As Chief Operating Officer of top selling comic book publisher Chaos! Comics, Mr. Goldfine oversaw finance, operations, marketing and new business development. Under his direction, Chaos! grew from the ninth largest comic book publisher in North America to the fifth largest.

Prior to coming to Chaos!, Mr. Goldfine founded and was president of GeoServe Communications, a full service web developer. Notable clients include CBS Studio Center, Panavision Hollywood, Polygram Filmed Entertainment and Wyle Electronics.

Mr. Goldfine attended New York University's Tisch School of the Arts where he earned a BFA in Motion Picture Production. He has worked extensively in the motion picture industry on dozens of feature films, commercials, documentaries and music videos in New York, Hollywood and internationally.

Fred Dunning

With over 32 years in construction, including 19 years as a plumbing contractor and 20 years as a general contractor, Fred Dunning is one of Excel's most experienced project managers. His exceptional versatility and eye for detail come from experience on a wide range of projects including shopping centers, office complexes and restaurants as well as high end residential, apartment complexes, condos and mixed use buildings.

Some of Mr. Dunning's more notable projects include the renovation of the Wrigley Mansion in Phoenix, Arizona as well as the renovation of the home of Jordie Hormel, heir to the Hormel Meats fortune.



John Conto

After completing his service in the United States Army, John Conto began his construction career as a design and construction consultant in the New York Metropolitan area. There he oversaw a wide range of projects throughout the North East with an emphasis on public and private education facilities and historic buildings. After more than ten years in the market, John relocated to Arizona where he began work as a project manager for Gilleland Brubaker Architects overseeing the ground-up construction of thousands of residential units across the Phoenix metropolitan area. From there, Mr. Conto spent over eight years at Gray Development Group overseeing the design, construction and maintenance of ultra high end mid and high-rise apartment communities in the Phoenix Metro area valued at over $475 million. In 2006 Mr. Conto was selected from among hundreds of employees to receive the Gray Development Group "Player of the Year" award to commemorate his cost effective solutions and willingness to go above and beyond the call of duty.

Mr. Conto has proven to be an extremely valuable asset to Excel Builders, overseeing the day to day slate of projects as well as managing individual projects on his own. His wealth of construction as well as architectural knowledge has made him an extraordinary problem solver and a highly effective manager.

 


Benjamin Cohen, LEED AP LEED AP

Mr. Cohen’s interest in design and construction began at an early age. Before joining Excel he was involved with a wide range of projects including work for Habitat for Humanity at the Schuylkill Environmental Center and several high rise projects in Beijing. He was also a member of the construction team at the PS1 MoMA 2005 Outdoor Pavilion.

In 2009 Mr. Cohen achieved LEED AP certification and holds a Masters Degree in Architecture from Columbia University as well as a Bachelors Degree from the University of Wisconsin, Madison. He is a New York native, an avid cyclist and currently resides in Fort Greene. He has work experience in the US, China, Italy and Venezuela.
